G. Courtney Houston, M.D., was born at Fort Benning, in Columbus, Georgia, and completed his undergraduate work, graduating magna cum laude with a B.S. in biology and minor in chemistry, at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus.

Completing medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in 1976, Dr. Houston embarked on his post-graduate training at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta with an internship and residency in general surgery.  He then completed his plastic surgery residency at Medical College of Georgia.  Along the way, Dr. Houston also obtained fellowships in hand surgery and facial cosmetic surgery.

Starting a plastic surgery practice in Albany in l988, Dr. Houston subsequently moved to Thomasville in l989.

In his leisure time, Dr. Houston scuba dives, snow skis, practices Tae Kwon Do and is a karate black belt.  He is also a licensed pilot.

He and his wife, Theresa, are very actively involved in the lives of their children, Courtney Howell, Jessica Leigh, Christopher Scott (Kit) and the youngest, Michael Wyatt.
